Birthday Cake

So, here it is. Mackenzee's birthday cake. I finished it a little while ago. Even though her birthday is today, we are having the party tomorrow. So, that's when we'll sing and she gets to blow out the candles. (Hopefully she knows not to touch them like she did last year)

Anyway....this is the first "elaborate" cake I have ever made. I've plopped toy figurines on top, or just frosted a cake...but never actually created something. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's not bad, I guess...but not what I had envisioned. Oh well. I don't know that I will do this again though. Do you know how many hours this took? Between baking, making the cat head shape, cooling, first layer of frosting (for the crumb layer...I did watch Martha Stewart on how to do this!), cooling again, frosting again, drawing the face on, painting the face on, smoothing the shapes, creating "fur", you get the idea....I don't have the patience for this kind of stuff. I think I'd much rather pay someone else to do it. I'm good at cookie bars and cupcakes...;0)

Volleyball Senior Night

Before I forget...
Last night we went to Jerome to Jordan's Volleyball game. It was senior night, which is the night they recognize the members of the team that are graduating. Side note here: I can't believe she's 18 and graduating....This picture is of Stacy (Jordan's mom), Jordan, and Jordan's grandpa (Stacy's dad). Did that make sense?
Anyway...They won their game, so it was a good night overall. Congrats Jordan!

Mackenzee is 2!

Mackenzee is two! Can you believe it? Not that she hasn't been behaving like a terrible two year old for a while now...but that's besides the point. She is so excited it's her birthday, though I'm sure she has no idea what it means. She just knows it's all about her...and that's all that matter to her! My sister took these pictures this last weekend. They were taken consecutively in the order shown. Mackenzee just kept posing, so Melanie just kept snapping. Sigh. Can you say little diva?

So Small by Carrie Underwood

Just heard this song and was mesmerized. The actual video for it really goes well with the song too. This one made by someone on YouTube did a pretty good job though. Just listen to the words....

Some Light Reading

So, to help in the never ending process that is potty training....we had purchased an Elmo Potty DVD for Kenzee to watch hoping it would help her understand and want to wear panties instead of diapers. yeah...it didn't so much. She does LOVE to watch the movie though. And every time we watch it, she will go sit on the potty and at least "try" to go. She doesn't really try, but at least she'll sit. Baby steps, right? Well, this morning, Jaysen was watching it with her, and that led to her wanting to sit on the potty.

When I walked in....this is what I saw. Jaysen told me that she wanted to take them with her to the potty. I assume she was needing some entertainment while she waited for something to happen. :0) Which, of course, nothing did. But at least she got in some good reading!

October Birthdays

So, in my family October is "the month" for birthdays. There are six, just in the Robinson family. It's insane! We start with my neice, Savanna, and then it's my mom's turn, followed by Mackenzee, and then comes my sister Melanie, with my nephews Austin and Jon at the end of the month. Crazy! So, everyone came this last weekend for conference and to celebrate my mom's birthday which is today.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
And since we were all together, we decided to have one BIG birthday party on Saturday. We did have a special little party for just Savanna as her birthday was on Friday, but after wards it was chaos as the rest of the kids opened up their birthday presents.
It was so nice to have EVERYONE there this time. We haven't all been together like this since Christmas last year. All 24 of us, soon to be 25. Who'd have thunk it? ;0) Anyway...we had a blast, the kids wore themselves out...and good times were had by everyone. (I was so good and took my camera to my mom's house on Saturday so that I could take a lot of pictures, but when I went to take them I realized that I had forgotten my memory card. It was still plugged into the computer. Sigh. So, I was only able to take pictures on Sunday for my mom's party. Though it looks totally chaotic in the picture, which it was, it's one of my favorites. It just shows how much the kids love their Nana. Totally swarming her so they could be close to her. Of course, the excitement of what she was unwrapping was part of it too....but still.)

Family Fun Night!

Jaysen wanted to take the kids out golfing on Monday night for Family Home Evening, but the weather was not really cooperating with us. So, we decided to go tonight instead. Mackenzee has never been to the golf course before, so this was her maiden voyage.

She used Landon's old putter (it's the only club left that he didn't break) and Jaysen showed her how to play the game. She enjoyed herself thoroughly.

Landon still has a great swing. Well, at least for as often as he actually goes out to golf. Which isn't enough unfortunately.

And then afterwards we went over to Jaysen's parents house to visit. They have a little pumpkin patch in their backyard, and so they let the kids each pick out a pumpkin to take home.

Mackenzee is now in love with the orange ball. She is carrying it all over my house. I'm waiting for her to drop it and have it shatter pumpkin guts and seeds all over my house. Sigh.

Gotta love fall!
