Landon's 10th Birthday Party

Yes, that's right....my son is now a full decade old. Double Digits. I'm not sure how I feel able that. :0)

We always celebrate his birthday a little bit earlier in the month because it makes it easier for his friends to make it to the pary. This year we changed things up a bit, though. Instead of the ginormous party, Landon and I decided we would order pizza, and have pizza and cake and ice cream at home and then go to the movies. He was allowed to pick a couple of friends to go with him.

Landon ended up getting a RipStick from us for his birthday....

and a puzzle and frizbee from his friend, and a Wii game from another friend.

Here we are at the theater waiting for the movie to begin. We went to see Planet 51. I hope the boys enjoyed it.
Happy Birthday Landon! We love you so much and can't believe how big you have gotten. Thanks for being such a good kid!

New Moon!!!!

I read the first three books in the Stephenie Meyers Twilight series in one week. That was two years ago. Sadly, it took an entire year for the fourth and final book in the series to be released. I read that one in a matter of days. Needless to say...I enjoy them. :0)
When the first book was made into a movie I was super excited.....that is, until I watched it. It stunk. Badly....
Still, I held out hope that the next movie would be better.
For any of you that live in Twin Falls...you realize there is not much to do around these parts....especially when it gets cold outside. Knowing there would be a whole evening at the movie theater revolving around the release of the second movie, New Moon, I knew I had to go. Not necessarily for the movie, because I had no expectations for the movie, but because I knew it would be fun to go and see all of the little teenage girls screaming over Edward and Jacob. :0) It was the event I was dying to go to....
I convinced a few friends to go with me to the midnight showing of New Moon on Thursday night and invited them all over to my house to watch the first movie, Twilight, just before we headed over to the theater. And, because I love nothing more than having theme parties (is that sad?) I made matching t-shirts for all of us to wear too. Who says "old" ladies don't know how to have fun? :0)
I was on Team Edward....Montay (who just so happens to be pretending to bite my neck like a vampire) was on Team Jacob. For those of you who have been closed off to the world for the past several years....Edward is a vampire...and Jacob is a werewolf.

I was going crazy with blood-hunger apparently. :0) Ellen smelled TOO good!!!

Here's the gang patiently waiting for the movie to start....Tiffany, Ellen, Rachelle, Crystal, Fonda, Montay, and me.
Nathan and Crystal....

Me, Montay, and Fonda...(yes...those are glow sticks and I swear EVERYONE else at the theater was totally jealous!)

Rachelle, Ellen, and Tiffany
This was Montay frantically driving us to the theater. See how excited she is? She doesn't even LIKE the books. Yet...here she is....wearing her Jacob shirt...with the Jacob pin on the front....driving her car that was covered in window marker with phrases like "Team Jacob!" and "New Moon!" And, because we are older than the tweenies...we totally parked in the bowling alley parking lot so we could be closer to the door (it was stinking cold outside!!!) and jumped over the fence to get to the front doors. We've got MAD SKILLS!

Do I look tired? This picture was taken at 2:30 am AFTER we had seen the movie.

Here's the group in our wicked awesome shirts....

Can you see how excited I was for the movie? (photo taken courtesy of Mackenzee photography "Say cheese AND smile mom!")

While I was making the shirts for us girls my kids decided they didn't want to feel left out and wanted me to make them shirts too. They both chose to be Team Edward (through no persuasion whatsoever!). We are baring our teeth like vampires in this picture. Don't we look fierce?

I had so much fun last night girls!!! Thanks so much for your willingness to be crazy with me. I've never been so loud in a theater in my entire life (and still had others be louder than me!!!) Can't wait for Eclipse to come out....I hear it's going to be released in June...you guys ready to stay up all night again?

It's Fantastic!

So, we had girls night tonight, and much to my disappointment, only three of us showed up. Apparently I'm one of the only mom's that wants a night away from not only her kids, but the hubby too. And with GIRLS. Sigh. Anyway....We were supposed to go bowling, but with only three of us there, we ditched the alley and decided to go catch a flick instead. With not much out there that was appealling we decided on the Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. My friend, Fonda's, hubby was going to go see it later tonight anyway, so she thought she'd squeeze it in before he went. As his hubby was at my hubby's house with all of the kids, I bought a 9:15 ticket for Jaysen too so he could go with Matt after we got done at the theater. (Did that make sense) Anyway...I was feeling guilty going to see this without Jaysen because he was really wanting to see it, and honestly, it wasn't on my list of must-sees for the summer. I haven't even seen the first Fantastic 4!
So, I had no expectations whatsoever about this movie, and only knew the basic gist of it because of my 7 year old. But, all in all, it was a pretty good movie. It had all of the super hero stuff in it, and a good overall "moral" to the story. And, it kept you going and was....ONLY 1 hr. 35 min. long! So much better than 2 hr. 45 min. like some other movies I previously blogged about. ;0)
Anyway...the three of us had a fabulous time at the movie for girls night. Fonda is in charge next month...so we'll see what's in store for us then!

Pirates!

So, Jaysen and I actually went to the movies last night. On a date.......

I know. It's crazy. It has literally been months. Life has been hectic. But, we both wanted to see the final chapter in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, so we went for it. The movie was crazy long! Almost three hours! But it was pretty good. Not as good as the first. About the same as the second. I do LOVE Captain Jack Sparrow though. Johnny Depp is awesome as this character. Very likeable. Even though he's a pirate. The silliness of some of the other things about the movie got annoying for me though. Some scenes were going so well, and then they try to throw something silly in it. Not funny.....silly. Innappropriate for the mood of what was going on. So, it didn't quite fit. I don't know. Better plot in this one than in the second one though. It does leave it open for a fourth one if they really wanted to, but it seems as though they're keeping it to three from what I've read. Probably best.

Anyway...Jaysen and I have decided to make our movie date night a monthly thing. We went with another couple last night, which made it fun. Definitely needs to be a do over. So, for June....I'm not sure which one we're going to go for, but July is definitely Harry Potter time!
