Weekend Away

Jaysen's brother, Bob, was nice enough to let us use his cabin for a weekend and so we decided to run away a few weeks ago for a much needed weekend away. We took some friends with us too and we all had a really good time.
We made s'mores......

Looks yummy doesn't it?

It was definitely cold outside though.....Lots of snow....

Of course, that didn't keep the kids from wanting to play outside. :0)

The proud builders of this awesome snow fort. :0)

Of course, much time was also spent playing in the hot tub.

We had so much fun and plan on taking Bob up on this offer again REAL soon. :0)

Good times....

One of the best parts about Christmas vacation is that we get to hang out with family that we don't get to see very often.
Melanie and Shelby at the bead table. Yes, we took over my mother's dining room and made bracelets, necklaces, and watches galore for two days. It was crazy!

Who needs a whole bunch of new Christmas presents when you can go for a ride in a laundry basket? :0) Mackenzee and Paige were being super silly together.

Talon got this new wicked awesome electric drum set that Riley was super excited about. The kids had a lot of fun trying out the different sounds and making up songs. Mackenzee was the dancing entertainment....

We have a tradition that the kids get to open up one present on Christmas Eve. Mackenzee picked the present the Landon got for her, which was a 'Princess and the Frog' doll set. She was super excited.
Landon picked the box that had the latest installment of the 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' book series. He was so excited and had the book read within 24 hours. :0)

Mackenzee decided this year that Jaysen really needed a Bronco snuggie and a football for Christmas. I'm not sure how she came up with this, but she was SURE that this was going to be the BEST present EVER. :0)

Christmas Eve 2009 was spent with the Burnham family in Jerome. As usual we ate good food, played Bingo, and did Christmas jammies for the kids. Jaysen was the big money winner in the "right, left" card passing game, too. This year was also a first for Landon as he has always been gone on the years we have spent with the Burnham's. So, this was his first official Burnham Christmas Eve.

Thanksgiving 2009

This year we spent Thanksgiving with Jaysen's family out in Jerome. We had such a good time hanging out with everyone that was there.

This was the "Girls Only" table. Mackenzee was so excited that she was big enough to sit with the big girls. If you look closely in the back left hand corner of the table you will see a hooded figure....
That's just Jordan trying to hide herself from my flashing camera lense. :0)

Mackenzee and I taught Jeremy the fine art of eating olives off your fingertips. He thought it was wicked awesome and I'm pretty sure he ate an entire jar of olives all by himself.
The men folk got serious over a game of Sequence. I will tell you now that Jaysen and I are a bit addicted to that game. If you haven't played it before....you need to get cracking! :0)
Thanks so much Rita for a wonderful dinner. I'm still thinking about your yummy pomegranite sauce you used on the Turkey. So yummy!
Happy Thanksgiving!
