Today is the BIG day!

No, I am not referring to the BSU bowl game that is on tonight....

Today....my baby is OFFICIALLY nine years old. I know I already had his birthday party. We celebrated, we opened presents, we ate the cake....

But, he wasn't really nine yet.

What happened to my baby? :0(

What's even worse....is that this year...my first born child no longer BELIEVES. You know...the "magic" of the season? Yeah....he is officially too "old" and is no longer fooled by the promise of magnificent things as long as he "behaves".

I worry he will start getting too old to want to hang out with his "old" mom. How long before I start becoming "uncool"? If the last nine years has gone by this quickly...will the next nine be quick too? He's halfway to being an "adult"!

I'm going to continue having my little pity party for a while longer....

Just take my advice....

Don't let your kids get OLD like this! Mackenzee isn't allowed. She's been officially grounded from growing up.

Sigh.

Happy Birthday Landon! I love you to the sky! We miss you so much already and hope you have a great day!

What happened?

Tonight, my heart broke just a little bit. My Landon...my baby....he said something that just about crushed me.
We were finishing up with dinner and as I was cleaning up he said that he had told his friend, Hatim, that I was crazy. {It's true!} I laughed and asked him what Hatim said.

"Well, I told him you were crazy because you liked to give me kisses. He thought it was pretty funny."

I asked him what was so crazy about that! And then I said, "You're not too old to have your mom kiss you are you?"
This is where my heart broke....

"Uh, yeah."

I'm serious...I think I could actually hear it breaking. I tried really hard to keep my tears back. I know he's getting older. I know kisses are gross when boys are older...but not from the momma! Right? Sigh.

I begged him {literally} to allow me to still kiss him goodnight.

"Well....maybe once a week."

Just once? Really? That's it?

"Ok then!" {he said this like he was totally annoyed with me...completely exasperated} "You can kiss me goodnight three times a week."

Still NOT good enough. I'm his mother. It's not like I'm giving him super slobbery kisses. In fact, it's just a kiss on the cheek we're talking about here! You'd think I was asking him to do something horrible! :0)
I told him I was kissing him goodnight EVERY night whether he liked it or not.
And then I proceeded to grab him and give him a big fat slobbery kiss on his cheek to let him know that I could still pin him down to do it if I had to.
Because I love him.

Too Big For Her Britches

It's official.

My baby is a big girl. We had to take apart her bed when we moved it out of her bedroom to install the new carpeting. As she has just learned how to climb out of her crib, we figured we might as well transition her into a toddler bed. So, instead of putting the crib back together the "baby" way, we put up the "don't fall out of the bed!" bars when it was time to put her bed back in her room.
She is now sleeping in her "big girl" bed. :0(

I cannot begin to describe how sad this makes me. When did she get so big?She was so excited to go to bed tonight too. Her first night sleeping like a big kid. Of course, right now she is screaming and kicking at the door, but at first there WAS excitement! {She hasn't figured out how to open doors yet. Thank heavens!}
